This High School (9-12) class aims to incorporate the elements and principles of design into the thinking and production of student work with an emphasis on two-dimensional surfaces. Young artists will reinforce the necessary skills to represent three-dimensional images on a two-dimensional picture plane, see with an artist’s eye, understand composition, and effectively use proportion and perspective to create depth. They will experience a variety of media, creating still life, landscape, figure, and portraits. This class can be repeated year after year, with the expectation that each year will bring deeper growth and confidence in art-making. This coming year, set creation for the school play will also be a part.
