Heather Garcia

String Teacher

Originally from South Carolina, Heather graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Memphis and later earned her Master of Arts from Regent University as a Certified Financial Planner. During her undergraduate studies, she collaborated with classmates to pioneer the Strings Project, an initiative designed to provide underprivileged children the opportunity to experience the gift of music. After completing her degree in Memphis, Heather moved to Buffalo, New York, where she taught at Buffalo Suzuki Strings. There, she taught private lessons, led group classes, and performed in concerts throughout the Buffalo area. In 2011, Heather and her family relocated to Virginia Beach. She taught at the Academy of Music in Norfolk for ten years before joining the KEYS family, where she continues to invest in students through excellence in music education. She currently maintains a thriving private violin studio and has served as a guest conductor for All-City events in Virginia Beach, further contributing to the local music community. In addition to teaching at KEYS, she serves as an accountant for Operation Blessing, managing finances that support disaster relief efforts around the world. Heather attends Grace Bible Church, where she and her two children, Caleb and Vera, serve regularly. Beyond her passion for teaching and service, she loves adventure and the great outdoors — hiking, biking, and enjoying God’s beautiful creation. In her free time, you’ll likely find her at the beach, feet in the sand, with a good book in hand.
