R. Michael Ayers

American Sign Language (ASL)

Mr. Michael is a highly motivated freelance interpreter with a solid connection to the DEAF community. His vast knowledge of Deaf culture enables him to support those in the DEAF community to face many unique challenges. He is also a gifted interpreter of music, sermons, speeches, conversation, and drama performances. As a teacher, he connects well with students by offering a listening ear and fostering a supportive classroom environment. He currently teaches ASL I, II, III, and IV. He has worked in various settings, such as physical therapy, AA/NA, hospitals, weddings, and education interpreting. He holds an Associate's Degree in Applied science in ASL-English Interpretation from Tidewater Community College. He is currently attending Liberty University to pursue a degree in Secondary Education. He is also taking a variety of CEU (continuing educational unit) classes at St. Catherine University, MN, Hillsdale College, MI, ASL University, FL, and, when offered, courses at the DEAF Action Center, LA. He is a member of RID (Register of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.) and VRID (Virginia Register of Interpreters for the Deaf). Mr. Michael has a powerful testimony of how God lovingly rescued and miraculously healed him and made him a new creation in Jesus Christ. His life gives testimony of our perfect Father's mighty work to change, renew, and revive a life surrendered to Him.
