Elementary Math Description

This course is designed to solidify the math foundation of upper elementary students and prepare them for success in Middle School Math. Emphasis will be placed on math fact mastery, place value and numeration skills, estimation, multi-step multiplication and division, decimal and fraction operations, problem-solving strategies, and basic geometry. Successful completion with a passing grade is required before advancing to Middle School Math I.

Textbooks and Supplies

This course uses the Math Mammoth Grade 5 curriculum, which will be provided to each student in worksheet form. No textbook purchase is necessary.

The following supplies are to be purchased by parents:
One 1.5 or 2-inch binder
Notebook paper
Three dividers
Pencils
Colored pencils
Scissors
Glue stick

Prerequisites

Students must demonstrate readiness on the KEYS Math Placement Evaluation. Please contact the office to schedule an evaluation prior to class selection.

Class Information

Parents are responsible for purchasing all textbooks and supplies before the first day of class.

KEYS will invoice supply fees at the time of registration and class selection. This fee covers materials, lab supplies, and other expenses incurred by the teacher. It is a one-time fee, transferable until August, but non-refundable.

Please note the grade level for this class. Students younger than the recommended grade levels need special permission before signing up for the class. Please contact the office for more information.
