Beginning Guitar Description

This is a group ensemble course designed for those who have limited or no experience and would like to learn to play guitar. Students will learn simple songs in a group setting. Students will be introduced to chords, basic strumming, and basic Music Theory. Students must bring their own guitars to class. Daily practice is expected. Beginning Guitar will perform at the KEYS Winter and Spring Concerts and in an in-class recital at the end of the year.

Metronome (iPad/Phone is sufficient for use at home)
Black Binder: section labels with practice logs, music sheets, resources, handouts, homework, and classroom notes. Please have paper as well.
Pen & pencil
Ringed pencil/supply pouch that is kept with the binder to store supplies
Electric Guitar & Amps encouraged

Prerequisites

Students must be in at least grade 6 to enroll.

Class Information

Parents are responsible for purchasing all textbooks and supplies before the first day of class.

Supply fees are due to each teacher on the first day of class. This fee covers materials, lab supplies, and other expenses incurred by the teacher. They are a one-time fee.

Please note the grade level for this class. Students younger than the recommended grade levels need special permission before signing up for the class. Please contact the office for more information.
