Concert Choir Description

Concert Choir is an audition-only, advanced choral group for grades 9-12 (mature 8th graders considered) *Please contact the KEYS office to schedule an audition. Students will study music theory, sight-singing (solfeggio), rhythmic training, proper vocal techniques, and vocal repertoire. Students in this choir will be expected to work hard and achieve great things vocally, practice their music daily, complete and turn in weekly assignments, and participate in all concerts and outreaches. They will have the opportunity to audition for VMEA events, including District Chorus and All Virginia Choir. In addition, students in this ensemble are required to participate in the MOST trip. Expectations: at least 90 minutes of out-of-class practice on music, Sight Reading Factory, and 2-page theory assignments per week.

Prerequisites

Audition required and an exemplary work ethic.

Class Information

Parents are responsible for purchasing all textbooks and supplies before the first day of class.

Supply fees are due to each teacher on the first day of class. This fee covers materials, lab supplies, and other expenses incurred by the teacher. They are a one-time fee.

Please note the grade level for this class. Students younger than the recommended grade levels need special permission before signing up for the class. Please contact the office for more information.
