Advanced Drama Description

The KEYS Advanced Drama class is an audition class designed for students with at least a year of acting/stage experience. This class is for motivated students who have a passion for acting. There will be great concentration on stage performance, authentic character development, enunciation, body language & awareness, and improvisation. Along with performances and rehearsals, there will be other graded assignments and projects, including memorization, reading, and written assignments. Ultimately, the goal is to focus on the talents given to us by our Creator and give the glory back to Him. EXPECTATIONS: Students are expected to memorize lines and meet memorization deadlines, perform on stage, complete assignments on time, and participate in productions and outreach activities. VALUABLE INFORMATION ABOUT SCHEDULING: During the months of September through December, all performance classes are held during their scheduled times. Once rehearsals begin for the spring production in January, classes meet on both Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. In late March/early April, we generally start meeting until 5:30 p.m. During Tech Week (the days immediately prior to our performance), we will have extra mandatory rehearsals on Monday and Wednesday. A rehearsal schedule is developed, so some students may not be required to be at every rehearsal (although it is encouraged, because students can continue learning while watching others rehearse).
