Advanced Guitar Description

This is a group course for those students who possess a solid foundation in guitar performance, have completed Beginning/Intermediate KEYS courses, and have a strong desire to perform at a higher level. Students will study advanced techniques in picking, strumming, and finger techniques. They also will go deeper into the Nashville Number Systems, practical music theory, and learn various chord inversions, modes, lead techniques, and improvisation. In addition, students will be introduced to how to tone shape their electric instruments, getting the most out of their equipment, using effects, and more. Students will play various styles of music ranging from Praise & Worship, Rock, Indie, Blues, Country, and other genres they desire. Students will be introduced to other members/genres of the guitar family and playing with others. Advanced Guitar students must bring their guitar to class and are expected to practice daily. Advanced Guitar Ensemble will perform at the KEYS Winter and Spring Samplers and two in-class recitals.
