French I Description

As the official language of over 50 million people scattered over 40 countries and territories, French is a window into the world and is more relevant than ever in our global economy. This introductory course incorporates National Foreign Language Standards (SOLS) and allows students to take the first steps in learning a foreign language. With an emphasis on communication, students engage all levels of thinking skills, e.g., recognition and recall, analysis and application, creating and predicting. Students participate in various interactive exercises that facilitate oral communication, listening comprehension, and pronunciation. The intentional use of authentic target language sources equips the student to use French appropriately in practical, real-world contexts.
